Summary in English:
My paper briefly comments on the paper by Ester Ekrtová on the occurrence of Gentiana pannonica
in the Krkonoše Mts (Ekrtová 2014). I am quite sceptical about indigenous occurrence of the species in the Krkonoše Mts for several reasons: 1. The comparison(using AFLP) of the plants from the Krkonoše Mts with a limited number of populations from the “native” distribution does not exclude the possibility that an identical population occurs somewhere else and also the possibility that plants from gardens were used for introduction seems just as probable.
2. There were extensive botanical explorations in the area of the Krkonoše Mts, and especially its summit area, during the 19th century. It seems improbable that botanists visiting that area could overlook such a conspicuous and not small species. 3. The present massive spread of young individuals seems to me a phenomenon typical of invasive populations. For these reasons I cannot consider the occurrence of Gentiana pannonica in the Krkonoše Mts as definitely solved.
