Intensity of the tourist traffic in the area of the Karkonosze National Park (KPN)was the subject of research conducted in the years 2000-2003 in the KPN. The research was conducted during a few nine-day series, in selected places - the intersection of tourist routes. One of the ways of the research was surveying tourists, who visit the Giant Mountains. Collecting  information about accommodation in the mountains was the main aim of sociological analysis of the tourist traffic in the national park. The most important information concerned tourists' opinion about the condition of nature in the Karkonosze Mountains, conservation and tourist infrastructure. The survey also included demographic data to receive information about social structure of the tourist movement. The analysis results are presented on graphs. There is information concerning reasons for visiting the KPN,  length of stay in the KPN, favourite tourist activities, knowledge about threats to the nature of the Giant Mountains and opinion about the present condition of the tourist infrastructure.

W latach 2000-2003 na terenie Karkonoskiego Parku Narodowego prowadzony był monitoring ruchu turystycznego. W czasie dziewięciodniowych akcji monitorowania natężenia ruchu turystycznego w wybranych węzłach szlaków turystycznych Parku prowadzone były również badania przez ankietowanie osób odwiedzających Karkonosze. Celem tych badań było uzyskanie podstawowych danych umożliwiających analizę socjologiczną odwiedzających Park turystów. W szczególności ważne było uzyskanie ich opinii o stanie przyrody Karkonoszy, jej ochronie oraz infrastrukturze turystycznej na terenie KPN. Ankieta zawierała również część demograficzną, dzięki której możliwe było uzyskanie informacji na temat struktury społecznej odwiedzających Park. W opracowaniu przedstawiono w postaci graficznej uzyskane dane z analizy sporządzonych ankiet. Są to m.in. informacje na temat: motywacji odwiedzania Parku, planowanej długości pobytu, preferowanych form aktywności turystycznej, wiedzy o istniejących zagrożeniach przyrody Parku, a także oceny stanu infrastruktury turystycznej.
