German toponymics in the Sudetes have been conspicuoused with a large wealth and a circumstantiality. This situation was proper also for the Karkonosze (Giant) Mts. As result of border changes of in Central Europe after 1945 it reached the exchange of German population on Czech and Polish ones within frontier-mountains. The assignation of new names on both sides of the border became its consequence. After the initial good transborder collaboration the unilateral work has been made in the Silesian part. Finally above one-fourth names are incorrect materially or completely not answering essentially previous ones. Very many objects still have not Polish definitions. In that way many features were lost, earlier characterizing natural environment of the Karkonosze Mts. Names have been formed from physical features of objects or places, while the greatest group pf physiographical objects make elevations. Preferably faunistic definitions than floristic ones have been used.
