V rámci podrobného geologického mapování České geologické služby byla proměřena geofyzikální metodou pozemní gamaspektrometrie část území Krkonošského národního parku. Získaná data umožnila vyčlenit horninové typy podle obsahu přirozených radioaktivních prvků (draslíku, thoria a uranu) a charakterizovat oblasti s anomálními hodnotami.
Bedrock of the Krkonoše National Park, was studied by the Czech Geological Survey using also geophysical methods like the field gamma-ray surveying. The content of naturally occurring radioactive elements, usually potassium, uranium and thorium, is significant indicator for the differentiation between individual variant of the granitic and metamorphic rocks. The concentration of radioactive elements in rocks of the bedrock of the Krkonoše National Park can be important for the ecology survey (dispersal of biotopes, influence on environment etc.)
