Food of the Kingfisher was studied on the terrain of Jelenia Góra basin in 2002-2003. The material from two nesting tunnels located on the slopes of two rivers Podgórna and Wrzosówka was analysed. The frequency of fishes in the kingfisher's diet amounted 94 % (in 2002) and 95 % (in 2003) of the total number of preys. The most frequent prey was sunbleak Leucaspius delineatus and perch Perca fluviatilis, the invertebrates of the Insecta, Gastropoda and Mollusca groups were sparse. The size of the fishes - body mass, standard length and maximum body depth was estimated basing on the measures of the diagnostic bones. Results of estimated maximum body depth confirm the hypothesis of the preference of slim fishes.
Udział ryb w diecie zimorodka wyniósł 94 % (2002 r.) i 95 % (2003 r.) całkowitej liczby ofiar. Najczęstszą ofiarą zimorodka były słonecznica Leucaspius delineatus i okoń Perca fluviatilis, bezkręgowce były nieliczne i należały do grup Insecta, Gastropoda i Mollusca. Na podstawie pomiarów kości diagnostycznych oszacowano wielkość ryb - masę, długość ciała i maksymalną wysokość ciała. Uzyskane wyniki szacunkowej maksymalnej wysokości ciała potwierdzają hipotezę o preferowaniu przez zimorodka ryb smukłych.
