The radiometric 10Be exposure age method was applied to surface of crystalline rocks and Late Quaternary sediments in the Obří důl and the Labský důl Valleys. Geomorphological evidence combined with 10Be dating shows that deglaciation of the Giant Mountains occurred between (23.2 3.8) (10Be) ka and (8.0 1.5) (10Be) ka. Permanent ice and firn fields were still present in the upper parts of cirques and on high plateaus up to around 34 thousand years ago.
