The first trail crossing ridges of the Giant Mts. appeared already in 13th century. Rather dense network of trails and paths (some of them are already closed) covers the area today. Plant communities with non-natural species composition are distributed along those trails similarly as around mountain chalets. The objective of this contribution is to inform about running project, in frame of which we try to find out the extent of changed vegetation, to evaluate the reasons of negative changes and to propose activities to improve the current status. Subalpine vegetation belt of western Giant Mts., area that belongs to core zone of bilateral Krkonoše/Karkonosze Biosphere reserve is the area of interest for the project.
